Privacy policy

Askdesk: WhatsApp Order Chat. Effective 17 October 2026.

Askdesk is a Shopify app made by Flying Star Technologies, Mumbai. It adds a WhatsApp chat button and order help buttons to your store, and shows you which questions buyers tap. This page explains what we store, what we do not, and how to reach us.

What we store

  • Your shop address (for example your-store.myshopify.com) and the access token Shopify gives the app, so it can run in your store.
  • Your settings: the WhatsApp number you enter, your greeting, topic labels, reply hours, colour and which pages show the button.
  • Counts: for each hour, how many times a topic was tapped on each page type, and for which product. These are plain numbers. They are not linked to any person.
  • The findings we generate for you each week, such as "buyers keep asking when a product will arrive".
  • Basic details about the staff member who opened the app, such as name and email, only if Shopify provides them at sign-in.
  • Standard server logs kept by our hosting provider (request time, page requested and IP address) for security and fixing faults.

What we do not store

  • Buyer names, phone numbers, email addresses or addresses.
  • The content of any WhatsApp chat. A buyer taps a question, their own WhatsApp opens with a message already written, and they send it to you directly. Askdesk never sees or sends that message.
  • Order numbers or customer records. To compare questions with sales we read the quantities sold per product from your orders when you open the dashboard. We do not keep them.

How we use it

Only to run the app for you: show the buttons, build your dashboard and your weekly findings, and keep the service secure. We do not sell data or use it for advertising.

Where it is kept and for how long

Data is held on our hosting provider's servers. When you uninstall the app, we delete your settings, counts and findings. Shopify also sends us a shop erasure request 48 hours after uninstall, and we delete again if anything is left.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold for your store, or ask us to delete it, at any time by writing to support@flyingstar.in. Buyers' data is not held by us, so requests about a buyer go to the store that sold to them.
